The first show of the season was held on the 6th April at Lincoln Showground. Thanks to Sandra and Mark Moncaster and the NCPA for hosting.
This year saw sunshine and clear blue skies, a drastic change from last years hurricane. A brisk breeze however saw horses on their toes and the growler was put to good use to calm rider nerves.
Sadly the sunny weather did not lead to calmer horses due a Private Driving class taking place in the adjoining ring.
The Best Horse or Pony Class saw horses more suited to the Parade Ring at Haydock Park, and not the elegant and genteel side saddle mounts we were hoping for. Fortunately our judge, newly appointed Chairman, Henrietta Barton, prevented the situation from worsening with some tactful ringcraft and the horses began to settle.
We had a good number forward, and the Area showed a strong level of horsemanship and turnout. It was lovely to see Members returning after a break and new combinations forging partnerships.
